OT - Star Wars music

Yep - just joined this season - so you know who to hit up if you're looking for comp tickets. Usually my husband gets them, but I have extras occasionally :)

Hi Lizz,
Congrats. We love the RPO. Its one of the best parts of being in Rochester.
My wife and I go to the RPO quite frequently.
The last musician we knew was Ariana Ghez.
Her dad is a scientist/colleague and visits UofR occasionally.

Are you the new hornist?

Right. That's me :)
I'm glad you come!
I didn't know Ariana Ghez - she wasn't there yet when I was in school, and she left before I got here.
Do you teach at UofR?

so excited about tonight Lizz! was just talking about your pistol shrimp at CF....and your enthusiasm......seems to be contagious...kinda like mine!!!!

LIzz...I had a FANTASTIC time. Wonderful music...and totally loved that pretty much 3/4 of Act II was all Star Wars or John Williams. Thank you soooooooooooo much!

Question. King's Row and Phantom Menace....unusual time signatures. 12/8? 6/8? Completely blown away with his direction. Fantastic!

Glad you enjoyed it!
It was a pretty fun concert. We all liked the conductor.
Hmm... totally at a loss about those time signatures. My husband always teases me about forgetting everything the second the concert it over.....

i was sitting there trying them out...4/4...nope...6/8...maybe...12/8...possibly....3/4, no way....ESPECIALLY...King's Row. lol. I hung around and took some pictures of the artwork and the details of the sconces on the lights and the fish on the drinking fountain.....what a wonderful evening.

Well, several of the pieces switched time signatures quite frequently. So a bar of 2/4 followed by a bar of 3/4, then 4/4, then 3/8 and so on.
The theater really is beautiful. I remember being enamored with it when I first came to study at Eastman.
I did look for the nut in audience in costume - didn't see you out there ;)

i was in the B Logue. 2nd row. AWESOME. nope...i was so astounded, i was speechless (and ask anyone, that's really something. lol). Up until the Star Wars fanfare...then I was cheering. So precise. So completely flawless. It was mesmerizing watching you all...the violins...and I could here you 3 on the horns...so beautiful a sound...
