OT: Time to move, my car got shot up

This evening we heard gun shots right outside our apt, we hit the floor and called 911, they came out but didn't do anything because no one was hurt. So then about 2 hours later I decided to take a drive and noticed my car tire was flat.

Thought no big deal tires go flat all the time, took the tire off and to my amazement there was a bullet hole in the RIM, it blew right through the metal rim of the tire.

Called Sac Sheriff again and they said they would not even bother to come out and write up a report, because they were already out there and no one was hurt.

Amazing..

It's time to move!!!
Any one know any cheap but better neighborhoods around?
Right now we are on Sayonara Dr in Citrus Heights.

It think its time to say Sayonara to this street.

Here's a pic of the tire.

wow.. that's no good. Police really are amazing, huh, they can spend all afternoon writing parking tickets, but safety is hardly of the utmost importance. :( not really a good thing when you depend on them.

Sayonarra is one of the worst strips in sac. When I was hooking up cable about 9 or 10 years ago it use to have a big drug, gang, and prostitution problem. Its comparible to some choice spots you might see along Franklin and or Broadway. Sorry for your bad ordeal, but thankfull it was just your rim!:(

I would like to apologize on behalf of the Officers that do attempt to meet the needs, and expectations, of the people that do have legitimate complaints. Your complaint would have been handled very differently here. I would have seized your wheel and tire in an attempt to recover the projectile as to hopefully match it with another to find the shooter. Yes, you would have been out a broken wheel and flat tire, but hey, have to replace anyway right?
Again, I apologize for the way your local department has treated you.

Your soo very right JR. I have no question it wouldve been handled differently there,Ive seen first hand the difference.Oklahoma runs a tight ship and its no joke when your in the OK ;)It is sad that we cant expect more from our officers here. It seems to be all about revenue in this state. If theres little or no money envolved, they dont get envolved.

-Justin

Btw, there has to be something you can do. Possibly go to the sherrifs station yourself to file a report since they dont think its worthy of a trip, make your statement filed so you can have something to give your insurance company, and keep a paper trail of your injustice.I know getting anywhere might be difficult till you get that wheel fixed though.

-Justin

That was one of the questions they asked about insurance. Because I have liabilty only on that car they didn't bother to make a report.
I'm like the only one on this street who makes over 90+ a year (leagaly) and because the precedence on the sterrt they won't bother. but if that had happened in Roseville,Rocklin, or anywhere else with +600 homes you would have had a full investigation team.

It's funny because each time the police are out here for various reasons and I end up talking to them, they always ask why the heck are YOU on this street. They say I'm like the only "normal" person who lives here.
I always say cheap rent, you can't beat $600 a month for 1000 sq feet.

But I think the time has come. I've seen a lot of crazy stuff on this street in the last 5 years i've lived on it.

This was a few weeks ago here on the street

Hoh well.. Now I'm on the hunt. I've heard there are new condos in Roseville for like 190. That would not be too bad..

Thanks for letting me rant..

After going thorugh a rim, I would expect that the slug would have been deformed to the point that very few identifiable characteristics would have been left. But of course, some of the new computer search/id technology can extrapolate based upon the visible evidence and come up with some "possible" matches. It sure beats the ole' side by side w/ stereo scope ;-)

I used to work in that area many years ago. Sayonarra has always had a reputation for being a very bad place.

First off, I am sorry that your tire/rim got shot. If you go down to the station you should be able to file a report for insurance reasons.

As for the above post, this person doesn't even know what he is talking about. There is a whole separate division for people that write parking tickets and they are not peace officers. Please don't make comments like that about a department when you don't know what you are talking about.

Here's another COMPLETELY incorrect statement. Yeah sure, it's all about revenue. Deputy Sheriff's get lots of "Revenue" from going to domestic dispute calls and burglary report calls all day long huh? C'mon man...

I'm sorry. I don't mean to sound like a jerk but when people say stuff like that when they have no idea what they are talking about kinda gets to me.

Why are you still renting with that salary, Steve? You could easily get a decent condo in a nice neighborhood. Especially, with how the market is now:)

Roseville seems real nice. You'll be close to John's new store, too. That would be a great move:thumbsup:

I noticed today that there is another hole in the support frame for the roof!!!
I took a pic but then my mem card weirded out and now it won't even format in windows. So I will get another card and take another pic in the day again.

Went down to pick and pull this morning and actually found the exact same rim, so now it looks like nothing happened (except the new hole I found)
Which I just filled with RTV Silicone so rain would not leak into the car.

Yeah I'm close to John's store now.. so I can't imaigine being closer :) I'm like 5 mins tops right now!!

Where are there some good prices in Roseville on condos?
I found some here in citrus heights but they are off greenback (by the fire station) and I don't know that area all too well..

The reason i was renting is I really like to live it up with gadgets and toys and cars. And I bought a house in Washington to rent out, so that takes some income as well.

It's hard to beat $600 a month for 1000 sq feet. But i guess now I will have to cut back on the toys for some saftey.

Even if nothing turns up, it is worth a try to "identify" right? And the new computer stuff is really amazing at what they can do.

Yes, most have seperate divisions. We do, I left traffic several years ago. It is tru some only work crashes and write tickets, thats why I left traffic. And yes, hearing the 'ol doughnut story and driving around has gotten old. I know I do what I can for a particular call.

I just don't like hearing bad experiences from people about the Police. I think it is the responsibility of the Police departments and the Officers to... at the very least... make a simple report that there was a problem. I really feel bad for funman1, he should at least be able to pick up a report saying his rim was shot, if nothing else for his insurance. That would take like... 3 minutes to write. I feel for you guys that get that kind of service.

funman1,
hopefully you are able to move to a better place with better service (and a little safer). Good luck with the search and move.

i'm in love with your latest creation! ever since i was younger i have dreamed of owning my own star wars arcade game but this is about 10x better! awesome stuff!

Thanks JR.. We hope so too..

yoshiod, it has 5519 arcade games on it. and you even need quarters to play!!! After we move you should come over and log some hours on your fav games, for free :) (we have free quarters next to the machine)

lol. don't tempt me...i might not ever leave! ;) i read your entire site devoted to the system and it really got me thinking about buying a used cabinet and trying this out!...but then i was smacked back to reality and realized...i don't make enough money for that! lol. maybe in a few years though!

HA!!!!HA!!!!!
The low market thing is a joke right????????????????????, low compared to the all time high of 1000% over fair value!, the houses down Sayonara Im sure are still going for close to $300,000. I'd have top be crazy to spend that much to buy a house in the "hood". I was looking for something nice in better areas, but gave up due to what I kept on seeing. I would have ended up broke and in a crappy neighboorhood. :P

And for those of you cracking down on our officers (one of the only lines of defence you may have when someone just broke in to your house and is pointing a gun at you). Yes there are some shaddy ones, but I know a lot of them that are out there risking their lives because they love helping people, there are a lot of policies that they have to work with that limit them, sometimes for their safety, and quite often due to budgets etc. insurance companies know that unless there are injuries, no one will take a report. The deputy did come out once, what would you like to have done by the deputy the second time? ballistics investigation? to match one of 20,000 other unregistered and stolen guns in that block?
and what would have been achieved there other that wasting my tax money and nothing being accomplished since there are no witnesess and no victims other than you poor wheel....

Do move, today if possible :) leave the hood behind, let them shoot each other, don't be the innocent bistander. :)
