OT: UC acceptances for my son!

Hey guys, just wanted to say that I am extremely proud of my son who is a senior in high school. He has been accepted to UC Davis, UC San Diego and UC Irvine. His dream school is UCLA and they will announce their decision tonight. I am praying that he gets in as it is very competitive and almost impossible to get in (over 100k+ applicants). Cal is his 2nd choice but they won't announce a decision until next week. Either way, he will be going to a great school and I will be broke for the next 4 years! Please wish him luck!!

Congrats! Let me know what he decided and if he wants to connect with students that currently attend that school to give him a tour or just a student prospective :)

Congrats...now try to get into Stanford. I have a nephew living with me, he's undecided and plans to join the army. My other nephew living with his parent will attend college in his high school junior year. I don't get it.

That's terrific! Hope he gets in to his top choices.

UC Berkeley is my alma mater. Brenner had the perfect description of the city - "Berkeley is....a beautiful woman standing on the corner with a baby in her arms. There's a man standing directly behind her, saying "GooGoo GaGa!" complete with hands/facial expression. The woman with the baby walks away and he's still there, "GooGoo GaGa!".

congrats!

acceptance depends on the major applied for.
I think if he gets accepted at UCLA, chances are, he will get accepted at Cal.
My daughter's first choice was UCLA and second Cal. When she got accepted at UCLA, she was happy, but when Cal accepted, she changed her mind and went to Cal. She graduated Computer Science two years ago and never regretted the decision to go to Cal. Either schools are great, but expect popular classes to have like 800 students. Cal is hobo central though, and she got robbed during her freshman year.

CONGRATULATIONS, SANG!!! Those very good schools! Can't go wrong with any of those choices. Now it's time for you to sell corals to help pay for his tuition...lol

Thanks guys. You guys are hilarious! A sad update of sorts. He got rejected from UCLA but ended up on the waitlist. His dream isn't over yet but it took a major hit. CAL will notify him on 3/30 so he has a fighting chance with them. Come on Cal!! He's devastated but will bounce back. He's already thinking about his waitlist essay for UCLA and how he can tilt the odds in his favor. It's not over yet!!

Congrats, now it all makes sense why you're selling that BK Mini :D

UC schools are not as easy to get into when I was in school. Good luck with Berkeley, IIRC they're one of the more expensive UC schools now (and if they had their way they'd privatize the greedy SoBs!), I'm happy it's been well about a decade since I wrote them a check (for my wife, not me... I was not a smart guy who could get into UCB :D)

Lol, the bk mini might take care of the parking fees for a semester! Our EFC (expected family contribution) on FAFSA was over $34k! Another words, we are not getting a dime in financial aid:( Yeah, it's going to be Top Ramen and beans for us! Perhaps Robert from Neptunes will take pity on me and throw me a bone once in awhile, haha!
