OT: Ultimate Surround Sound... you gotta hear this!

Got tubes?
Hey everyone...

Ok, I'm taking a class this semester called "Critical Listening". Ultimately I found out more about binaural recordings and found this AWESOME piece of work!

Please note that you HAVE to have headphones for this to work. Ear-buds and in ear monitors will work absolutely best, but headphones will work.

I let John hear this at school the other day... just thought you all would enjoy!

FWIW, PinkFloyd did a binaural album. There are also TONS of other things that are binaural, just google away. ;)

I'm seriously considering pursuing some theatrical uses for this technique. FWIW, its not a technology, its merely a recording technique.

Have fun! :)

That's pretty fun... some of the demonstrations of the sounds are really cool (like the bag over the head).

Yea, super cool, I had a small gasp when the bag was over my head, and found myself following him with my eyes as he walked around the chair I was sitting in. :) :). Thanks Brnadon

atleast you were doing this in the confort of your home.....brandon had me listen to it in the MTSU lab!!....thank goodness there were only a couple folks in there

I work with a couple of visually impaired students (and my boss is visually impaired) and they really enjoyed it... they're so used to taking their cues from sounds that it made it even better!

Glad you all enjoyed it. Wish I could have been there to see you gasp, Norman! :D

The first time I listened to it, my jaw dropped and my eyes got huge! I actually thought there was a door opening behind me at the beginning, DESPITE the fact I knew there wasn't one there! :)

I'm going to try to see if there have been any movies done like this. I think this is a lot better than surround sound.

They used to have something similar at Epcot Center in Orlando. The sound made it feel like the scissors were actually cutting your hair, and the hair dryer was actually blowing your hair. Really cool.
