my gf and i were looking into this and the best place we found out was through sports chalet... Its about 400-600 for the equipment and classes. Depending on how good of equipment you want of course.
I don't know much about this company aside from my roommate's description of their offices on Wilshire and what they say about themselves online - but - I think it looks amazing! they do classes and licensing, equipment rental, as well as local and global trips to reefs...
"When you travel with Reef Seekers, all you need to do is get yourself to LAX (well, after you've paid us for the trip of course). Then turn off your brain (within reason) because we'll take it from there."
i have a sport chalet scuba class my gf got it for me but i never went. It includes instructional book and certificates to any sports chalet to use for classes.pm me if your intrested
thanks
john
