OT wireless network

well Ive been up all night trying to hook up this fing wireless router


I did everything as the instructions say and yet it does not work

I have had the cable internet working fine as a wired connection for a few days now, so I know that it is not the cable modem or the cable connection


I am running this current connection wired THROUGH the wireless router, so the router is working fine for wired connections


the computer can detect the wireless network I created and can tell me the signal strength but it will not connect to the internet in wireless....my other computer is in contact with the wireless router but "the internet can not be found"

it says "connected to wireless access point but the internet can not be found"

equipment
laptop : netgear wireless card (working properly on other wireless networks...even detecting the neighbors)

desktop : linksys card...also working properly and detection the neighbors routers

both computers have accidentally connected to an insecure neighbors connection but will not connect to my router...so I know the wireless cards are working

router : linksys WRT54G wireless router (not working properly, 1 second away from being drop kicked)

my inlaws had a similiar problem, update the firmware on the router.
boom problem solved.(for them at least)
it was a linksys router as well.

did it the old fashioned way, uninstall/reinstall of adapter...got it

thanks dert, I did update firmware immediately before I even tried connecting
