I am looking for a cheap used wireless router and 3 wireless nic's to go with it. Cheap is the operative term here. :D

Also a used cable modem that still works, I am going to need one of those as well.

You can do some really neat things with the right wireless router. Some come with memory.. I've heard of people loading all kinds of things into routers (think linux).

Anyways... walmart can have some very good sales on occassion. I have seen them there for $25. Sometimes they are returned and in the "Clearance" aisle.

BB and CC can run some great sales. May wish to look in Sundays paper.

Is there a monthy savings in buying a cable modem? I think mine is from SBC but if it would save me $ in the shortrun I might buy my own.

The router will be temporary as I am not ready yet to buy the nice equipment...x-mas is coming up.

Our cable modem has issues, the ethernet port is fried, we called Charter (gag) to come replace it and instead of replacing it as the work order stated the igmo tech plugged it into the usb port, that of course works fine for the main pc but the Cisco router under the modem no longer can send it to the rest of the network. If I see another Charter (morons) tech I may become violent and the customer disservice from India doesn't understand that a Cisco router doesn't accept USB. They only know that the internet works at one pc so it is someone else's problem, not Charters (yes I hate them)

Basically I am patching this thing back together until the first of the year and will probably ditch Charter (puke) completely.

Yep... I ditched Charter long ago. I don't notice the lag times anymore with DSL although SBC is not alot better to cope with when it comes to customer service. I do wish we had a few other options around here. Kinda like the gas and electric folks... you can't do anything about their rates going up when they're the only game in town.

I guess I'm in the minority. I love charter. Switched from satellite and have NEVER had any problems and I can call them and be speaking with someone within 60-90 seconds and with SBC it's more like 60-90 minutes. I even switched my phone to charter and love that as well
