Wow! You should sell these to a postcard company. :) One great shot after another.

How long did you leave the shutter open for the water shots?

All the water shots are between 2 and 6 seconds. For most of them I was using a 4 stop ND filter and a circular polarizer to drive up the exposure time.

The only disappointment over the weekend was the sky, especially on Saturday. We had high clouds and haze almost all day long. Luckily it cleared out for sunset/moonrise.

nice pics

i had never really thought about how those water shots were done, good to know

That's it. I'm going to Yosemite. I've been putting it off for months, and it's only a 2 hour drive for me.

Beautiful shots, Beerguy!

In image 1050 (2nd to last post, 3rd image)... the path with the large boulder on the right... Great shot, of course. That's the pathway to Yosemite Falls, right? Most people would never know there's huge bathroom only a few feet out of this shot. You mentioned earlier that you're always more critical of your own shots than others, and it's little details like this that do it. Sure, you can look at that shot and know the surroundings, but for those who weren't there, we're left with only the magic you've decided to show us. And you've done well.

I know Yosemite well enough to recognize when you're shooting from that turnout just inside the tunnel entrance, and even how crowded that turnout can be. However, you've done well to make us feel alone out there, in a place untouched by man.

Can you imagine what John Muir felt like when he came over a crest and first found El Cap and Half Dome? Every time I go there, I imagine hiking through the hills, and just stumbling over this wonder.

Great job on taking us there, Beerguy! Oh, and the photos are pretty darned good, too! :)

Actually that shot, and all that follow, where taken on the trail to snow creek. It's a 7 mile loop that starts near the stables and heads out behind half dome; i.e. if you're in a car you can't see it. ;)

The tunnel view shots, with the exception of the two night shots, were taken up on the cliffs above the turnout. Up by the edge of the parking area, folks are shoulder to shoulder trying to take their picture. A short hike up the hill puts you in a spot by yourself, where you can barely see the crowds. It's a great spot but I wouldn't try it at night. One wrong step and you're doing about a 1500' free fall.

lol- when you say dial-up need not apply you weren't kidding :p
Well, that was a great treat- thanks for all the amazing photos!

Are you enjoying your new camera, Doug? :)

 love the new name

Yeah - I really am. I've only had it a couple of weeks and I've already snapped 1100 shots.

Hope you don't mind if I use that moon shot as the background picture on my computer? :)

Sweet pics.

I never get to go anywhere. :(

Great job Doug, those are some really awesome pics. I'm definitely going to have to "pry my wallet open" and go to Yosemite this year... :D
