outside feed to skimmer help.

Hi, so I will feed my skimmer with a hose out a cable hole beside my window across from the tank (too much CO2 in my house). It is about 20'. I have been told to invent a way to ensure no pressure change in the skimmer. So if it was a small hose a little wider than standard airline, I can imagine 20' will cause the skimmer to pump hard to get air. What if I made a buffer chamber with a gallon empty container next to the skimmer. Would that keep pressure stable? If not how do you guys rig this? Thanks.

I don't know how much that matters in reality, because even a small reduction in pressure at the pump end of the line will mean the higher pressure at the outside will want to rush in to compensate. There is probably a point where you are flowing too much air for the size of the line to react fast enough, but how high a flow that is for sizes in question i dont know...

you didn't say how big of a skimmer you have but with a decent size line (1/4" ID or so) 20 feet should be no problem. a chamber is probably not necessary because air intake is relatively constant, but you might want a silencer anyway, and a chamber would act as a silencer. It would also trap any debris sucked in from outside if you have it set up right.
