Overflow Box Drain Pipe

What size hole should be on the top of the drain tube? Mine keeps clogging with salt creep all of a sudden...I cleaned the overflow box the best I could last night and when I got home from work today it was clogged again. Not sure if the fish are splashing or something else is happening. So I started to think maybe I need to make the hole bigger. What size is the normal size for that?

Is this a HOB overflow box? Most overflows are 1"+ but I think there could be 3/4" holes. By top of the overflow do you mean some kind of standpipe inside the overflow or the pipe leading out of the overflow box to the sump?

At the top of the drain tube in the overflow box there is a small hole in the top of the tube. Not sure if I need to make it bigger

If I am understanding what exactly you are talking about..........no need to make it bigger.......run a piece of tubing down it so that the end of the tubing is well above where any slat creep can clog it. You might need to make ti bigger so your tubing fits right. soemtimes...depending on set up the lenght of this tubing down in the hole can also help with noise....simply moving it one way or the other can create or eliminate gurgling noise
