overflow hole placement?

well gonna have a hole drilled in my 150 gallon glass its 72 long 28 high 18 wide was gonna have one 1 1/2 " hole drilled on left side tank and build a 36" overflow box inside to feed water to it. is it a good idea ? any input would be great thanks

For noise control, might consider 2 holes for a Herbie drain system, or 3 for Beans.

Check out glassholes, and drill in a side pane not the bottom, you don't need to use up the square footage a hole cut in the bottom causes.

That is one of the many things I learned from my first tank.
