Hey gang,
Installing an overflow on a 100 gallon corner tank and I have a few questions.
1 what size should the drain and return be?
2 the overflow is going in the back corner of the tank, how much room should I leave for the drain and return line.
Going to be a durso overflow and a single return line not sure the size of the return pump yet.
Thanks reefers

You need to dicide on the flow rate you want first. It costs money and produces heat to pump water up 5-6'. I would aim for 5 times tank capacity. There is no real benifit to more flow, although many people recommend 10 times tank capacity for flow.

If can only do a single drain make it oversized and put a large screen on it so it can not possible become obstructed. I find a simple 45 degree fitting and screen at the top is quite, simple and efficient. It will also handle changing flow rates without having to tune it.

You need about 1000 gph return, and an overflow that allows 1200 gph.
No exact science but something to get you started.
