overpriced

Embryoguy,

Thank you for your post. Not only do we offer the highest quality fish in the industry, we also offer the unique ability to purchase the exact fish that are listed in our Diver’s Den What You See Is What You Get pages. The specimens offered were hand-picked to represent the most unique color pattern and/or color.

The Clownfish featured in our Diver’s Den are shipped from our Coral Farm in Wisconsin, and are put through an extensive quarantine process. This is because Clownfish are susceptible to the Brooklynella Hostilis, commonly known as Clownfish Disease. They are put through at least two separate medication cycles, observed extensively, and fed well. We feel it is our responsibility to ensure that we ship our customers the healthiest possible specimen, and that is why we put the extra effort into our quarantine process.

All of these factors go into the cost of the fish, along with our 14-Day Arrive Alive Stay Alive warranty.

If yuo think they are overpriced, don't get them.
If no one gets them, price will go down.
Simple supply and demand.

obviously if i have an issue i would not buy them. when writing on this premise one places assumptions that are obvious to the laymen.

when it comes to purchasing clowns. i spend as much money as anyone on rc. i use to go to the divers den quite often to look at RARE and unusual livestock, but lately it seems LA is just selling regular clowns at absorbant prices.

thank you for your reply but it still does not justify why a regular pair of clowns cost about 300% more than most lfs.

Do most LFS quarantine and medicate their incominf shipments? Maybe... Do most LFS guarantee their saltwater fish for 14 days? I've never seen it and I have seen hundreds of stores in my travels for work. For those LFS that do offer some type of guarantee, is it a money back guarantee? Not a chance! There's a lot more to it than just a "regular pair" of clowns as you say. Can most LFS guarantee that the specimens were collected properly and transported properly to the States and then to you? Hardly. If you look, you will notice on most fish from L.A that they state the country of origin or collection. You will never see "Phillipines" or any of the other areas that sell the inexpensive fish that you find in some LFS. When it comes to quality, just like anywhere else, you get what you pay for, and these guys are the best!

Sheesh....that sounded like a commercial. Maybe I should get a salary from DFS or some kind of commision:D

Why even bring it up? Just don't buy them. Lots of vendors sell lots of fish and/or corals that I think are RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. So I just don't buy them. Yeah, yeah, I know, that's not your point, you aren't shopping for clowns. If someone chooses to buy a pair of clownfish for whatever price, and is happy with them for the remainder of their lives (the clowns ;) ), then what's the problem? I'm clearly not in this hobby for investment purposes :D

PS - LiveAquaria, I'd happily fork over some cash for a QT'ed WYSIWYG pair of bicinctus clowns. Any possibility?? :D

why is it a big deal to state my comments? is this forum just set to praise the vendors? i ask a simple question. and yes i know of few local fish stores, for ex. absoluetly fish that has there fish mac certified. they are very pricey but not with 150$ percs.

you make all good points but you still overlook my specific question about a REGULAR PAIR of percs costing 150$. i will personally forward you 50$ if you can find a single vendor in the country that sells regular percs/osc for that price.

No, but this is a sponsored forum. It's paid for by vendor to give them a place to announce products and answer questions about their products. You've asked your question, and have been given an answer. As the consumer, you have the right to choose any vendor you wish. It is, however, in really bad taste to take advantage of their sponsored forum in an effort to discredit them.
