oyster beds

i was down in the Marsh on sunday and the idea hit me that oysters filter food out of the water. so me also being a reefer started to think of putting an oyster bed in my sump. do yall think this will work? the only think i can see affected is my Ca doasage will go up but other than that i'd like to know what yall think of something like this?

They sell "cleaner clams" for about 6 bucks each. About 3-4" when you get them. I have 1. Doesn't do much by itself I'm sure though. Someone local to me had some and when I asked they gave me a link to it but I can't seem to find it to post here for you.

well i'm just asking around to see how good of an idea it is. i can get oysters local during oyster season and not to mention there are plenty of oyster and clam aquaculture going on for the resterant trade here in Charleston SC. so getting hold of them isn't a problem it's just how well will they stand up in a closed system with warmer water.

I think it would be an awsome idea. Have you ever heard of a refugium. If not i think you should look into them they can be as good looking as the main tank if enough time is put into them
