Ozone Generator..Important on a Reef Tank?

Anyone using Ozone? Which is a good unit, how to install and is it really needed? I have read when used it can really polish your water, remove algae and bacteria and if not dosed properly can destroy a tank. Are they worth doing? Thanks

Yup, I use it

I use the enaly with no probs. I run it through my skimmer. Nope, it's not really needed.

It does make your water much clearer and takes the brown tint out. I think it's worth it. Be very careful with it thought and make sure you run carbon.

Chris...I will be at the next meeting and would like to pick your brain about it. Ozone is a grey area for me and I am thinking about adding it to my reef if it makes sense. Thanks Steve

Steve, I'lll be there by 6 at the latest next Tuesday. It would be great if you have time to show up a little early. Things get kinda hectic for me once people start showing. If not I'm sure we can find a few minutes to talk.

steve, i run ozone too, and love it. you just have to be VERY careful. residual ozone in the air is very toxic for everyone in the house. they tested that it can shorten your lifespan even with small exposures over time. so you definately need to run carbon after your ozone setup, and also wherever any air can escape.

the good news is our noses are extremely keen to any ozone in the air, so if you can smell it, fix it!

id highly recomend running an ORP controller also, you can easily nuke your tank without one. id shoot for around 375 400 orp.
