Ozone Proofing Your Reef

I have an in sump skimmer and am using it in conjunction with an ozonizer. I have the ORP level at 50MG, injection via a re-circulating pump. I can't smell any ozone (I know the smell very well) but the wife says she smells something like a "chemical". Scary to say the least so I was wondering how many of you are using ozone with your skimmer and what methods are you employing to proof it against any accidental discharge. I know all about the carbon deal so more specifically, where and how are you placing your carbon? Any other advice is also welcome.

carbon goes anywhere air can escape from the skimmer and the output of the skimmer water too.
