this may be a really dumb question to most of you but what the heck is ozone and what does it do to the tank and why should i even worry about it? i dont get it? lol explain plz!
I'm not a scientist but I ran it for a little while just to see.
I had it hooked up through the skimmer with the water exiting the skimmer flowing over carbon. The skimmer pull out some dark crap, the water looked clearer, and the corals had great color.
If you are going to add it to your setup make sure to have a way to watch your orp.
I recently set up ozone and I am seeing changes both in my water clarity and in some of my tests. I have a high bio load and have always had some traces of ammonia and my nitrite hovers around .1 to .25. After running running ozone for a week both ammonia and nitrite are reading zero. Nothing else has changed but the addition of ozone.
I also wanted to note that my ORP when I started was 242 (after probe break-in). I slowly raised my ORP by 10 each day by adjusting my Apex. Currently I have my ORP levels set on my Apex at 365 to 375.
+1 on reading the links listed by Randy. They were really helpful.
