Pacific Coast CL-280 Pump

I have been trying to decide if my return pump (mag5) will be sufficent for this chiller. On your website it says 500gph miniumum, but I read here on a search some folks used as low as a maxijet 1200 and it seemed to work.

My application would pump from the sump to the chiller, to a SCWD, and into the tank (alot of restrictions I know)... Do you think that would be good enough or is it too difficult to say?

Pacific Coast recently increased the recommend flow rate on the chiller from 300gph to 500. the reason was they believe the chillers were short cycling and customers were returning them as defective, but it was just the flow was not enough. I think usually if you give it 300 plus it's going to be fine. So normally the Mag500 is a great choice, but if you are going through a SCWD, it will slow it down quite a bit. You might want to go up to a Mag700.

If you already own the Mag5, you might as well give it a try though, you won't damage the chiller, possibly blow a fuse, but other then that wouldn't hurt it to try.

thanks
