Pagoda Cup ?

Hey guys and gals,

I have a small but nicely formed Pagoda Cup that that is really struggling. The flesh is deteriorating from one side down and just continues to get worse. At the LFS they told me that this is sometimes the growth process on Pagoda's but told me to give him a coral dip to make sure that there was no bacteria. I did that this weekend, but it is still deteriorating.

He has a constant slime thread that hangs off the damaged area and then when I blast him, the flesh falls off that area. To be honest this is my first coral I have had go down hill (knock on wood) and I am still a newbie, after the lfs story thread I just wanted to exhaust all possibilities to save this guy.

Thanks in advance

I would cut out the bad section, dip it and hope for the best. I've had mine for at least five years and its never slimes during growth.

very sad, down to less than half of his former self. It is strange because the polyps still extend, but going down hill fast......... less than 1 square inch of flesh, you think I should cut around the flesh that is left and if so, any suggestions on tools?

Are you feeding? Try microvert if not. I had a bubble coral I got from petco (when I worked there) that was nearly dead. The only sign of life was about a dime size piece of flesh in the center (the skeleton was about the size of a raquet ball). I had him in my tank for about a week and he started bubbling. By the time I sold him to killafornia, his fleash was about baseball sized, and that was about 3 months later. You can always try housing him in someone else's tank until he recovers...

if there is anyone on the NW side that knows their stuff and thinks they can nurse him back to health I would be indebted if they could babysit. he is just a little guy 1" x 3"

I'm on the east side, but all I have up is a 14g bio cube, but everything is healthy. I can if you wanna bring him over. I could take pics everyday too! Whatever you want

here is the poor little guy, I think he is cool because he doesn't appear to be a frag, but a fresh growth already cupping.

Fish or anyone else, if you think you can help let me know.

Im going out of town until the 27th or I would give it a shot. I think I would cut that bad part off though. I just use a sharp razor blade and tap it with a hammer, it should go right through it. Once it starts slimming, it seems to spread IME. Keep us updated on its status.
