Paint?

Im setting up the new tank. I want to paint the standpipes....what kind of paint should I use? safe for aquarium use obviously. thanks!

Don't paint, do a search on colored PVC pipe, there are manufacturers making all sorts of colors. You might even be able to get some sample / scrap for free.

black.....1 1/4...about 4ft of pipe, 2 "T"s, and 2 of the "shorty" 90 degree. oh...also 2 caps

Check Sched 80 it is really dark gray, you can get it at Lowes or HD, not sure if they have it in 1 1/4. Local Grainger might though.

Isn't there a krylon paint that bonds to plastics at a molecular level? would that work for this application?

I looked on Grainger website, they have 1 1/4", but check HD or Lowes first, it would be cheaper.

You can also buy plastic / vinyl dye paint, BUT I cannot vouch if it is safe for the tank, it might leach back into the tank water. Maybe somebody has some experience with it can chime in.

yes its called krylon fusion. works great. Also at lowes they have valspar plastic paint in spray cans. But if you want fusion I always found it at advance discount. hth!

Krylon fusion is what you want. Works great, not chemicals, and dries in minutes. You can get it at Walmart or any place that sells spray paint.
