I have a white barred Marroon clown, and i am trying to pair it up.

I got a genderless clown and she did pick on him for a while then he went and hid and has been for the last two days.... The female would go and look at him then swim away....

Im wondering should i move the clown into her sight in something she cant get to him in because where he is now she cant see him.

and to tell you the truth i think she forgot he was there.

I found her a little while ago chasing after the genderless clown he came out

his fin is torn up

so i put him under a bottle with holes drilled into it so she can see him

am i doing everything right?

what size is the new clown, i have a false perc and wanted another one, i bought one and it was about the same size as the one i bought but they didn't get along the new one kept on getting picked on so took it back and got a small one after i acclimated it my original clown was doing the mating seizure thing and they have been getting along great. good luck

hmm.. im not sure if i would have captured him or not.

she wasent chaseing him endlessly?

either way, hes in a bottle now, so... thats how i mated my maroons.

the sexlesss clown i put as close to the females spot as you can, and wait a few days for her to calm down, then try releaseing him. hopefully they start dancing :)

i would say let him out into the tank. keeping him in a little bottle is bout to stress him out. a torn fin isnt much at all. they will fight until one becomes submissive as long as he isnt pretty close to the verge of death it will work itself out. having said that i have paired many clowns and never lost one to fighting. i just actually paired up a GSM and a WSM and NO fighting at all the GSM was submissive to the WSM before i even let him out of the bag

I am having the same problem as the poster but with a GSM. I had a pair of them and the smaller of the two died after 2 weeks because he would not eat. I even tried to feed live brine and he would not eat. I got another GSM in hopes that it would pair but it was larger than the one I have in my tank. The one in the tank is 3" and the new one is about 3.5" As soon as I put the new one in the tank he bit and tore two of the old GSM clown's fins. I have a RBTA and the new one took over the Anem and would not let the old one come near. I removed the new clown and placed him in a 12 gallon nanocube. I was afraid he would kill the old one in my display tank. Any suggestions as to what I should do?
