Pairing Maroon Clowns

Greetings,
Does anyone have any advice or tricks to pairing maroon clowns? I've read that they can be rather brutal and i wouldn't want to see one die.

Thanks,
Patrick

Takes mucho patience. Maroons are stubborn as hell and dont take into consideration all the trouble we go through for them,,,,,at least mine don't. The above link is great and Wilkersons clownfish book is my personal fish bible. Honestly if this is attempt at breeding clowns I would start with some ocellaris or clarkii's. My .02

I am working on pairing up some maroons right now. I have had the two maroons for almost one month now. I started out by putting both of them in my 10 gallon refuge with a piece of acryllic dividing the fuge (i drilled small holes in the divider for circulation). after a day or so I took out the divider and let them free to roam. For some reason or another they stayed on seperate sides of the aquarium about 80% of the time. When they were near each other some times they were buddies and sometimes the larger of the two would chase the other.
After a little over a two weeks I went ahead and placed them into the display. Since then they have shown the early signs of pairing with the shaking, and the smaller of the two dodging the attacks and "kisssing" the larger. The larger clown is very healthy and plump but the other is definitely showing signs of stress. I keep a very close eye on the smaller clown, and if his condidtion ever seems like its getting out of hand I will remove him to the refuge to recover. Hopefully they will end up pairing and it wont take to much longer.
Hope this info helped you some, if you have any ?'s feel free to ask

i bought 2 small ones, 1 about 1 1/4" and other a hair larger. they came from sametank and same tank i bought my RBTA. after i bought RBTA and it was settled i went and picked up the maroons. they instantly began hosting the RBTA and seems to be getting along great. then the bigger 1 kicked smaller 1 out, only allowing it in at night. during the daybigger 1 would chase other occasionally nipping it. after about 2 weeks, smaller 1 seemed stressed and lonely, hanging in same spot alone. then MIA. i'm waiting until the 1 i have is about 2.5" and then will get another small 1 half the size. i'll keep it in tank in a specimen container for a few days and then let loose. it's hit or miss w/ these guys.
