Palmer's Blue A. millipora acclimation

I recently got a frag of palmer's blue mili form another reefer. In the other guy's tank it was at the top of the tank under heavy flow right under a 150W halide.

It's currently on a frag disc on the bottom of my tank.

I would like to move it 2/3 of the way up my tank's floor under a 400W halide. (about 10 inches from bulb to water and 10 more from water's surface to the coral.

How slowly do I need to move this guy up? I had a green milli from the same reefer that I put at the same height after only a few days of being on the bottom of my tank. The was probably a bit too fast but I saw no ill effects and in the past few months the frag has tripled in size.

I would REALLY like to keep the awesome royal blue color that this frag has.

How slowly do I have to move him up?

My Palmers is pretty tough.
My 400s are closer to the water than yours and my colony is closer to the surface than you plan to put yours so I don't think you'll have any problems.

It loves light and loves flow.

If it was already in pretty strong light when you got it, then you won't have any problem moving it up pretty fast. A week, two weeks at the most.

I don't even bother to acclimate mine at all when I change out my bulbs. Doesn't phase it at all.

cool any tricks to keeping it this awesome royal blue?

My tank params are as follows:

ca:380
dkh: 12
pH:8.2 (depending on time of day)
sg: 1.026
temp: 78-80C
ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite 0 ppm
nitrate:3 ppm (gasp-- I guess im not running an "ultra low nitrate system"-- not sure if i should worry about getting this lower or not)
PO4: 0 (or so the test kit tells me)


The tank is a 90 with mp40s on either end. Other corals are growing quickly for the most part (exception being some notorious slow growers)

Your numbers look okay. Your alk seems high, you can more easily get it to dangerous levels if you keep it that high, but if it works for you go with it.

+1 to the coral being able to tolerate a lot of light. Just give it a week or so and it should be fine.

Yah, I totally agree.
That Alk is a little high and that Ca is a little low for my preference.
Not sure what you are using for you reef to get those Ca/Alk levels.
Your Mg level might help you with that.

Intense light, lots of flow, consistant water quality, and your Palmers will very blue.
