Paly colony going/ gone bad

I got a nice frag rock with a nice Paly colony. I probably had it for 3-4 weeks and everything looked great, except that I think I got glue on two polyps and they died. Well, since I installed some more flow in my tank, half the colony have turned black and pretty much closed. Actually, this half looks like a seperate colony. The others are doing fine and the colony is not in the direct flow, but they are getting a lot of flow.

I think my clowns tried to host them early on (clowns have the scars to show), so maybe they got too beat up?

Any thoughts to help them, or is this the beginning of the end?

palys arent huge lovers of flow, try moving the rock from any high flow areas. it is very possible that the clowns killed them too.

Sorry to hear that. I never make promises, but you will have to act within 24 hours or I can promise you they are not going to make it. Do you have a quick macro pic we can see?

The black you speak of could also be dark brown. Knowing what it looks like may be nothing at all or it could be a very serious advance stage of something. That pic will really help if you can post it. Black is not good. If it's soft and flaky, you've got time, if it's hard and crusty, that's not good at all.

Palys can tolerate more flow than short stubby zoas can. Flow should always be a wide spray and not a narrowed beam like directional piercing type flow. This will cause polyps to retract and not expand.

3 pix, the best I could do because it's a funny angle. They are the polyps in the back. The ones up front look nice and healthy.

They aren't in the direct flow. but I'm sure they are getting the Koralia 3 spin cycle. It's about 8" up and to the right, but they are kind of blocked by rock
