Panasonic LX3 vs Canon T1i or XSi or D5000

Was wondering it this portable camera can hold a candle to these SLR's in terms of picture quality. My current portable can't take aquarium macros at all and in house pictures are fair at best. Would like the T1i or maybe a Nikon D5000 for the video but boy DSLR's sure are big!
Thanks for any info.

these we manual focus, F5.6, ISO800, 1/60sec about 8" away from anemone
with dark room and just a jbj picotope light, i think it's 9watts 50/50 with standard lense 18-55mm

im not a photographer so this is the best i got with that light. i think with a better light i can take better pix. oh yeah, its not on macro mode. i forgot all about that. haha

ah yeah the colors aren't so great on these guy, they're recovering from a tank crash.

Thanks for the photos. Looks like a macro lens would be necessary for closeups. Hope you don't anymore crashes.

Nice tank and great video. I'm on the fence now between the D5000 and T1i. I'm comparing them w/o considering the 1080 T1i capability due to the low fps rate. Plan to buy a body then find a quality lens to go w/ it. Maybe w/ a zoom that goes to 200 it'll be able to take good macros.
