Part 1 of the Package

I just moved into my new house, and decided it was time to take the 90G tank out of storage after 4 years. I drove up to Tampa on Tuesday morning and met Richard and picked up part 1 of my package.

Like all of you say, this rock does not look anything like what you see in a LFS. It is covered with various plant life. I am several years removed from this hobby, so am not good at all when it comes to identifying things. I will post a couple of pics and if anyone sees something they know the name of I hope you will share.

I do know I have at least 1 tiger goby that hitched a ride in. There may be more than one, although I have never seen more than one at any time, I see him at different times on and around every rock, that is why I think there may be more than 1.

The constant popping noises have been narrowed down to 1 or 2 rocks, but I have yet to see it. Hopefully a pistol and not a mantis, but we shall see eventually.

When emptying the bags, I found several VERY small crabs. One was on my finger and I did not even know it. he was orange and less than half the size of my pinky nail. Into the tank they went, but I have not seen them again yet. I did have a few snails and welks that came in on the rock and along with the goby they are the only active things I have actually seen so far.

A couple of the rocks have some barnacles, but I can't tell yet whether theyt are alive or not. I do have one area of what I think is some kind of encrusting yellow coral that has brughtened up in the last day or two.

I did not try to aquascape yet, just wanted to get everything in the tank and get it cycled. I had an ammonia spike on day 2 to just over 1 ppm. Made a 50% water change, and it has dropped off to zero since Friday.

Well, I am a newbie at posting pics but here goes nothing.

Uh oh, just found 5 small gorilla crabs on the same rock, all within a 4" radius of each other. They are very small.

Found another crab I have not IDd yet. Big broad claws, bigger than his head, pretty much brown all over. Probably is an inch and a half across.
