Patches on fish????

I have a Royal Gramma that has white small patches on it and it doesn't seem to be ich. The patches are bigger and look like they are deteriorating the scales. It started right behind the head and is now spreading. I tried a freshwater dip tonight but didn't really see anything come off of the fish. I recently lost a chromis to what I think is the same problem, it was harder to see on the chromis because of his lighter coloring. Any suggestions?

There are some microbes that will live off of fish flesh. There are also bacterial infections that produce a similar symptom as you've described.

If it's bacterial, I would treat the fish in a hospital tank with NITROFURAZONE (in the product, Furan-2).

Beyond the above, we'd need to see a clear, up-close photo of the fish you're describing to provide any more guidance.
