PC Lighting for Softies / Mushrooms

So I've managed to get some dual 9w PC Fixtures (Two 9W bulbs in each fixture), and have two sets of these. I'm toying with the idea of placing them over a small (~7 Gallon about 9" tall) tank for growing mushrooms and soft corals. Using the "watts per gallon" rule, I should be ok - 36 watts / 7 = 5+ watts. The two bulbs in each fixture are 1 Actinic and 1 6500 daylight.

Anybody see issues with trying to turn this into a mini-frag tank for mushrooms/soft corals?

Thanks

Mushrooms would be just fine. GSP (green star polyps) are forgiving of very low light.

Anything else would be of mild concern, depending on how deep the tank is. 9 watt pcs aren't very strong at all.

I once ran a 10g with only two of the lights you are speaking of. Mushrooms loved it. Given the size of the tank, I didn't experiment with other corals.

You might want to check the nano forum. There is a lot of information there about lighting smaller tanks. Hey, you might even get some fresh ideas (I have.).
