i have a 55 gallon tank with 260watts of PC. what kinds of clams can I keep. (if any)

Your options are Squamosa, Desera and gigas. They all get large so be aware of that and all three are sand dwellers.

In my opinion that isn't enough light to keep a Squamosa or Deresa. Possibly a Gigas, but that would be about it.

I think we sometimes overdo it ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ I have kept a Derasa under 226w PC in a 38g for more than a year and it has doubled in size and its colors have improved since I first got it. In the same tank I have two Maximaââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s as well (but I do plan on adding either a T5 or 96w PC lamp soon). The Maximaââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s are around 3ââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ so light at this stage is not as important as a good feeding regiment. I was sure they would loose some of their color, but after 8 months they are displaying the most intense colorations. I think there are more factors like excellent water quality that contribute to healthy animals.
