Pearlscale Butterfly

I've kept a couple of them. Nice fish. Relatively hardy for a butterfly but I would not add it to a tank with overly aggressive mates (large angels, triggers, zebrasoma tangs). Highly suggested to quarantine it before adding it to the display. Mine were quite active, ate everything offered. Very pretty fish.

I was thinking about a raccoon in my 210 fowlr tank but I seen a Pearlscale at a LFS and love the way it looks. I might go with it now.. why wiil it not go with triggers and angels??

I haven't had the pearscale but other butterfly's along with my triggers and large angels. Never had a problem between the triggers and butterfly's but a bit of ruffhousing between the angels and butterflys. They are related so I guess to be expected.

I just got one last night, it took me a month to get a decent one. He's pretty shy now, but I saw him eating some daphnia already.

butterfly fish can be reasonably hardy but their diets are probably the hardest to keep up with. They need to be fed very heavily and not have aggresive fish to pick on them. If you can get good quality live blackworms you should feed them to your butterfly as often as you can.

I have one right now. Great fish, I was worried when I added him to my tank that my two larger angles would bother him. They tried but the pearlscale stood up to them and havnt had any issues. I like watching him, lots of personality

just like the original post i would like to know about them to as in diet, I have one on order that will be here tomorrow. One thing says clam, another says omnivore. Anyone had luck with pellet or flake. One of the suppliers says they feed them lettuce, odd though. If anyone knows please list acceptable foods.
