Pencil wrasses

I am purchasing a pencil wrasse just wondering if there's anything I should be aware of with him. He has been on hold at a lfs and eating doing quite well with no problems.

It seems pencil wrasses don't ship well at all but I haven't had any issues with mine. I also bought mine from a LFS and made sure it was eating first. I've had a male smalltail pencil wrasse (p. cerasinus) for about 2 years now. He needs a sandbed to bury himself in and he jumps a lot so a cover is a must. He has eaten like a pig from day one. He's constantly hunting for pods and is a really quick fish, fun to watch.

All of the Pseudojuloides species I have kept have been pretty hardy once they have made it past 2 weeks from being shipped. The ones I have had, both severnsi and cerasinus, have not been picky regarding foods and have been extremely peaceful.

If you have established wrasses in your tank there may be some aggresion towards the pencil wrasse, but nothing too bad, at least with fairys, flashers, and Halichoeres wrasses, Pseudocheilinus wrasses may be a different story.

Once added he may stay buried for a couple of days. Thats completely normal so dont worry if you dont see him.

Mine is new. All wrasses are getting along with him

Whoops pic is upside down
