peppermint angel at hawaii aquarium died

went to Oahu and specifically went to the aquarium to see the peppermint angel. Looked in all the tanks and didn't see it so I asked the front desk where it was. They said it died about a month ago. Couldn't figure out how to keep it long term.

The zoo there was fantastic, and even though it was windy, went snorkeling which was fun too. Kept thinking how many of those fish are in our tanks.

The public aquarium had an sps tank that was outside and had a huge emperior angel in it. Was lit by natural sunlight.

That's too bad. What a beautiful specimen. Some fish are just meant to be seen and enjoyed from a far.

yeah that sucks. I was there 2 weeks ago and hamauna bay was closed due to power outage so no restroom service.

we saw hamauna bay, but it was windy most of the trip except yesterday when we were going to leave! I'm not a strong swimmer and being buffeted by the surf was a little freaky at first even in the shallows, but it was a blast. Found out there were fish even behind the wave wall by the hotel we stayed at. We didn't have time to swim there but I saw some moorish idols from the surface.

also they had a tank with archer fish and banghai cardinals together with I think mangroves and sea grass, I wonder if it was brackish or pure salt water.
