peppermint shrimp and aiptasia

i was told peppermint shrimp are a hit or miss when it comes to eating aiptasia, mines literally devour them within a week of putting them in my reef..not one in sight, so i started feeding them mysis and man they love it..shrimp on shrimp love lololol also never seen this but they litteraly crawl all over my hand when i try moving around some corals, i could just hover the tip of my finger above the water and they swim all the way to the top, literally half their body out of the water just to get on my hand.. wth :/ oh well all i know is that they are super healthy and thriving day and night all over my nano

I think peps are more apt to eat the smaller aiptasia, but leave the bigger ones alone.

I bought a copperband butterfly and he devoured all of mine within a couple of weeks. I had about 8 and 3 had grown quite large 3-4cm but he shifted the lot and he has not touched any of my zoas etc

I agree with the hit or miss with the peppermint shrimp. However, when you find one(s) that eat aiptasia they are very effective. I had one that took care of any aiptasia in my 30 gallon by himself (not that there was much) but also was friendly as you described.

my shrimp ate every aiptasia in the tank, even a couple the same size as the shrimp
