Peppermint shrimp babies

Awhile back I made a post sayin' I thought my pepps had babies in my 20 gal. I guess it was nothin' but pods that hatched or somethin' because I do have 2 pepps in my 10 gal. And this is the 2nd time in less than 2 months I have had peppermint shrimp babies. You can tell, they look like mini shrimps....long tail and all. There are 100s of them. I just turned the powerhead and power filter off and shining a flashlight in the tank. I wishd it wouldnt be so much work to raise them. Guess I'll turn the power back on and let it do it's thing. Guess some of the corals will catch some food tonight.

I gave it a try raising them once. We had about 5 pepps and they had babies maybe every 2 weeks. At midnight like clockwork. It was cool seeing them release the fry. Anyway, the problem we always had with raising them was keeping the water clean enough. Either you feed enough and the water gets dirty or you don't feed and they starve. We had a few of them make it more than 2 months and start to get some color, but shortly after that they expired. They make great fish/coral food if nothing else though.

Mine had babies in front of me one time. It was so cool. I bought the book on how to "Raise and Train your Peppermint Shrimp" but it looks more complicated than I want to take on right now. I just figure it is how the food chain works in the tank. The corals get very happy when it happens now.

One night, I watched one of my hermit crabs have babies. That was really interesting to watch.
