peppermint shrimp eating hermits?

I've had my 24g nano up and running for almost 8 months. This past week I added 12 blue legged hermits. I'm seeing more empty shells now in the tank then I see shells with crabs in them. I've got one peppermint shrimp. Is that lil bastard eating my crabs?? Where else could they be going. Unless they are sucked so far inside thier shells I can't see them

When crabs molt they're kind of vunerable for 48 hours or so. It wouldn't surprise me if the peppermint shrimp was picking them off during this time..

FWIW, I kept seeing all these tiny shells on my sand bed. I didn't know what was going on until I saw my peppermint shrimp with a small stomatella snail in it's grasp. There definitely not the angels I once thought they were.

The two aiptasia that I am aware of are laughing btw...

May have to try to get the shrimp outta the tank. I put a dozen crabs in it. They were making nice dent on the diatoms in the tank. I would put it in my 90g but I put 24 crabs In there

i don't think the shrimp would be killing all the crabs
