Peppermint Shrimp

What do peppermint shrimp eat if there is no aptasia in the tank? Will they eat other types of algae or do they have to be fed?

mine usually eat food that they catch in flight. and they clean the rock and sand all the time. probably eating pods, but not sure. the tanks theyre in are years old so theyre are plenty of pods. you could use shrimp pellets if you could keep the fish from stealing it. i would suggest feeding them at night, since they are mainly nocturnal.
