PFO Ballast w/Reef Optix III Pendants

I just purchased a PFO Dual 250W HQI ballast. On recommendations, I decidec to get a pair of Reef Optix III pendants to go with it.

I did not realize the connections would be mismatched, so now I have to order a pair of PFO quick disconnect cables.

Before I cut the cords of the Reef Optix and splice them to the PFO quick disconnect cables, I figured I'd check in here first.

Figured someone here may actually have the same setup. Will these Reef Optix III pendants work fine with the PFO ballast?

yes it doesn't matter. You can go the other way as well. The connectors are generic. SLS uses one type, PFO another (for obvious reasons).

Thanks for the feedback.. I figured they would work.. Connectors are just different so they can try to sell their own ballasts/pendants as combos...

As for the cable length, I could not believe the ones on the R.O. pendants werer 15 feet long! Definitely planned on shortening them.

Or you could send back the ballasts and buy the SLS ballasts. The internals are the same as PFO then you wouldnt have to cut anything.

oh, one caveat, don't make the cable any longer. There's a length limit.

Chuck,
I didn't know there was a limit? Is this for DE bulbs only? I'm going to have to look into this. I run my ballast out in the garage (50 feet of wire) and I'm thinking about going back to DE's.

I just got the reef optix too from reefgeek. I am hooking to a icecap ballast. He had a nifty little device that plugged into the end of the reef optix and then had the wires that went with the icecap ballast, didn;t have to cut. he may have one for the pfo too. cost around $4. way cool connector. never knew they existed.
