Ph level when cycleing and water flow

1) I have a 40 gallon tank that i am cycleing i just put the live rock in the tank 2 days ago and the Ph level dropped to 7.8 so i did a water change to try and compensate but it didnt change what should i do to stablize the Ph? or do i need to just let it do its thing?

2) I have a 190gpr hour powerhaed and a 100 GPH powerhead running in oppisite coners of the tank is this enough water flow or should i get more?
(This is not including the water flow from the return pump whatever that is)

Any sugestions would be great thank you!!!!

I would leave the tank be, dont do anymore water changes. By doing them you will only pro long the cycle.
Once the tank is done cycling and the PH still isnt up then I would add some buffer to it, but for now I would wait and se what happens.

In a reef or even a normal aquarium the tank should be turning 20 times the water volume per hour for decent flow. With out at least this flow you wont trap detritus( fish food, waste) out of the water column, sand bed, inbetween rockwork, to be filtered out.
Plus waterflow is a fishes best friend, they use it for excersize.

For 20 times turnover rate for your tank you will want to have atleast 800 GPH going thru it hourly.

I dont think I would worry too much about the ph right now. With no critters in the tank and with frequent water changes you should be ok. Are you curing the rock in the tank?

Regards,

Pat

I wouldnt do any water changes, the tank will most likely even itself out once the cycle is over, if not add some PH bufer to get the PH back up.
