PH Problems

HI Everyone, I am new to the hobby and have a question around PH. My amonia, nitrites, nitrates are zero and the alkalinity is 8.1 dkh. My PH is at 7.8 and I cannot get it any higher. The sump is in the basement and the house is airtight. I added a skimmer line which runs 4 feet to the outside. Does not seem to help. Before the line I tried something called 8.4 but could not get it above 7.7. Any suggestions?

How are you measuring your pH? While not ideal, 7.8 is acceptable. If you are determined to raise your pH you can add a CO2 scrubber to the inlet of your skimmer.

Your problem is that you think you need to have a higher PH..
Just let it be and stop looking at it..
Problem solved..

no seriously.. stop testing nor trying to influence PH..
Do not use a buffer either.. all its going to do is jack your alk up and maybe temporarily effect ph but its going to go right back down again..
