PH Regulation??

About 3 weeks ago i added another power head to my 58 gal. reef to increase the flow and air exchange on the surface. I have noticed that the evaporation has gone up alot with the extra flow. This brings me to the root question? Will the extra evaporation with the extra ro/di top off also cause the PH to go down. I have been having trouble keeping the PH up lately. Could it be from the extra top off and if so do i just need to dose more PH buffer to keep the PH up???...Thanks

Actually with the extra aeration your pH should raise. Problem is that with the temps dropping the house will be closed more and fight against you due to excess CO2. More pH buffer won't be any help other than right after you add it and it will cause your alkalinity to increase too much using it to fight pH drop. Here is a good article which explains low pH and the way to combat it:

You better go to the Nov. 11th meeting and present your case. Could be beneficial info for a lot of people.

What about adding kalk. I dont have any sps, just softies and fish
do i need to be concerned with the ph if it is running at between 7.8 and 8.0...Thanks

Kalk is a great way to drive off excess CO2. Do your homework and read the Chemistry articles before you start setting it up or buying equipment. A good peristaltic pump is your best and least hassle way of adding it but there are many other ways as well.
