pH testing (What do you use?)

I am having issues with my pH meter, and I was wondering what other reef keepers are using to monitor their reef's pH.

Thanks,

John

pH meter. As it turns out I have two (one came with my Ca reactor) and a pinpoint that I originally got just as a monitor. In my experience so far I have had to calibrate them about every 4 months, and replace the probes about every 16 to 18 months. I do watch them (they are in a tank all of the time) and can usually tell when they start drifting off.

I'm using a pinpoint probe on a AC 2 and it always seems like my PH is going up. It's been around 8.5-9 for awhile. Even though I stick my Calcium reactor effluent straight into the water. It only keeps my ph from continually going higher. Wanted to try a new probe, but they're just too pricey, and my test kits really suck.

Im using the analogue version of the Red Sea Shakumup 2000.1, seems to work ok, I know, ha ha real funny there guy... ;)

Make sure to clean the probes in a little vinegar every once in a while (3 mos. or so) and re-calibrate with 2 fixed value solutions (10.0 & 7.0). Gunk builds up from being submerged in saltwater 24-7, and Ca deposits accumulate over time if you're measuring reactor effluent 24-7.

-edit-: Probes only last 1-1/2 - 2 years before they just won't calibrate any more and need to be replaced.
