i was sitting here looking at my freshwater water tanks, i was wondering something. When i started my freshwater, i had to put some PH balance stuff in them, to get the PH started right. Do you have to do that with a saltwater? or making the salinity correct do that for you?

No. The saltmix will adjust the pH accordingly. Buffers are not a good solution to pH problems if one should arise. There are other methods used to adjust the pH if there is a problem. Those answers can be found here - http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=102605
