phone cord

I too had to look it up this is what i found:
Twisted pair is the ordinary copper wire that connects home and many business computers to the telephone company. To reduce crosstalk or electromagnetic induction between pairs of wires, two insulated copper wires are twisted around each other. Each connection on twisted pair requires both wires. Since some telephone sets or desktop locations require multiple connections, twisted pair is sometimes installed in two or more pairs, all within a single cable. For some business locations, twisted pair is enclosed in a shield that functions as a ground. This is known as shielded twisted pair (STP). Ordinary wire to the home is unshielded twisted pair (UTP).

ok what is twisted pair cable? does it come with with ends?

Its Cat3 or Cat5 cable. I uset Cat5 cable. Networking cable. The cable has 4 pairs of wire inside. Each pair is twisted 3X per inch. If you buy this wire with ends on it, it will not work. If you were going to go this route, HD sells this by the foot. You need to buy phone ends and a crimper also. You would use 2 out of the 4 pair for this. For instance, if you choose the blue pair and orange pair, you would crimp the connections as follows:
Blue, Blue/White, Orange, Orange/White on one end.
Orange/White, Orange, Blue/White, Blue on the other end.

You might be able to use 2 pair wire also, but the twists are less per inch. The more twists, the further the data will travel.
