I ordered phosban reactor 150 how long after it up and running will i see results dose any one have any idea. thanks.

Depends on how high you PO4 is now and how much media vs water volume you have. BUT, I do warn you, if you have really high PO4, take your time lowering it, bringing it down fast has been known to cause issues. You should be able to get down to a non-detectable level within a week or so. Also I have found "Phosar" to be much better product than Phosban.

Hmm, I've never heard of Phosar. I ususaly get Phosban or Rowaphos, whichever is cheaper at the time.

I'll have to google that.

Let me know where you're finding Rowaphos to be cheaper than Phosban. I'd like to get in on that. :)

Premium Aquatics has Phosar and Big Als has a decent price on Rowaphos. Atleast I thouhgt is was OK, I bought it. ;0)

Last time I bought some it was Rowaphos. I don't recall where I bought it though. I was surprised because Rowaphos is usually more. Bought a big bucket of it.

I was thinking about setting up a group buy for some GFO and some DI resin from twopartsolution.com. Anyone interested? We could set it up so we will have it in time for the next auction.

What does GFO stand for?

i thought 3 years ago it was decided that these were bad for sps tanks [partially due to the rus tin the media]. is it just the all at once that is bad?

Matt I think that was the aluminum based phos removers.

I have been using Dr. Fosters and Smiths brand of GFO and it is working great! AND.....it is way more econimcal that rowa or phosar.
The only thing is that it requires a bit more rinsing, which I dont mind doing to save a few bucks.

It is called Phospure and runs only 3 cents per gram as apposed to the others that run 5 to 9 cents per gram.

just FYI in case you didnt know about this stuff.

Thanks to Covey...he is the one who turned me on to this stuff

I have also used Phospure and it did work well but seemed to exhaust fairly quickly, a few weeks. Not sure if that was actually its fault or not I guess. I tried the wiess sample called Algae Magnet I recieved from the GIRS meeting in Altoona. It doesn't seem to work very well at all. I have a canister of Rowa that I am going to try next. It's amazing that these differ so much, it seems like it should be a simple compound, rust.

I thought about it, but $30-35 at DFS is hardly worth it. It works very well too. Shipping isn't an issue because I am always ordering something from them.
