Are there any issues running Phosphate and/or Nitrate removers if you are already running a refugium with chaeto?

No, i'm not aware of any issues. I'm currently running that exact set-up now. One month later, no ill effect (that i can see anyway). Maybe, someone will chime in with a longer history. Hope i could help.

I am running Chemi-Pure & Phosban Reactor with a small fuge of Cheato and everything is fine.

There is no problem except one caveat. If your phosphate and nitrate levels become too low your macro algae in the refugium may die. The die off of the macro algae can lead to nutrient problems. Therefore, just watch your macro algae to be sure that it is not dying off. Otherwise, you are good to go.

Ya, that is what I'm worried about. :)

I asked a similar question a while back since I was having an issue with my chaeto dying 3 times on me. I came up with the conclusion that with running a phosphate remover media and carbon media. That maybe there was not enough nutrients to keep my chaeto alive and there were some people that had similar problems. But this may not be the case for you. You might be fine every tank is different

lol I did just the opposite. I put in chaeto and took out my bag of chemi-pure. The tank is impoving as the chaeto grows. Then again I don't have much of a bio-load compared to some people.
