Photo Period?

I have recently decided to start keeping SPS corals.

I have 2x400w SE MH 10,000k and 4 96W PC a mix of Actinic 03 and 7100k blues. I also have a 65w PC Smart Lite 6700k/10000k for my fuge. I have my display lights running reverse daylights to my fuge.

I currently run my lights as follows:
Actinic / blues: 10am-10pm
Metal Halides: 12pm-8pm
Fuge light: 10pm-10am

I wanted to know what photo period members of RC run on their SPS tanks.

I run my MH for 11 hours, mainly because I don't have any atinics.

my photo period is the exact same as yours.

I run T5's on my little 55...and my photoperiod looks like this:

ATI blue plusx2 on from 11 AM-9:30pm
Daylight bulbsx2 on from 1:30pm-7 pm

So i only run the daylights for 5 and half hours....the reefs you see in the wild dont have the brightest light on for 8-10 hours a day...i try to mimic this and i have been successful in doing so...no adverse effects of the shorter daylight photoperiod as of yet

Now this is a good thread. Do any of you guys use your actinics for dawn/dusk effect? I have heard that it can be unnatural? I use them for an hour before and after white light..

Actinics 1030 am - 1100pm
first set of T5's 2 bulbs 1130am - 1000pm
Second set of T5's 3 bulbs 1230pm - 630pm
moodlights on 24/7

Has anyone watched that wheel in the electrical company's box spin when all your lights and AC are running.. haha, makes you a proud reefer!!

I run my actinics as dusk/dawn but plan on adding some LED moon lights in the near future. My actinics run an 2hrs before and 2hrs after my Metal Halides.



Actinic / blues: 10am-10pm
Metal Halides: 12pm-8pm
Fuge light: 10pm-10am

thanks for all the input guys keep it up.

I am curious to see if my photo period would be good for the SPSs I plan on keeping by seeing what others are doing.

I do 8 on my radiums...and 12 on VHO and T-5's....thats on my acro tanks that is...
