There will mostly be ricordia and shrooms in this tank along with gorgonians too. Maybe some zoo's as well.

Comments- suggestions?

This will house roughly 4-5 horses….. My son is 7 and is so excited to get his ponies before Christmas. He can’t wait!!!!!

Thanks
Spankey:)

The horses would be in the main tank, but now my son has come to terms and wants a reef tank. I am kinda glad because horses are hard to keep, and at my schedule I can't be feeding a tank 2-3 times a day.

The tank will end up mostly ricordia and shrooms..

that set up is possible but i must be honest. with the fish and the corals thats not at all a good set up to start horses in. MO! good luck

Why? The corals and fish that are planned on being ket are all seahorse compatable. What's the issue?

well im concerned with having them present before the horses. very seahorse compatible but when i tried this in the begining it became problematic with keeping the tank stable when over feeding seahorses but really feeding the fish. also you cant predict the seahorse that wont mind the fish and one that will when they are brought home and placed in this tank. you dont want to stress them at all during this period and maybe adding this stock of fish later is and correct by you as stated them as compatible to horses. but i like to create a pure envirnment for all horses so stress doesnt become an issue.

dont get me wrong as stated above iots for sure possible and i have myself done it. so take my words with a grain of salt as im being a perfectionist about the seahorses perfect tank. but the corals i dont like due to stinging ! they will accidently grab them anbd youll see them jump away as they are irritated.......even i tried this and saw mine getting hit months later and i asked{dont the know} but i dont think they look when they grab sometimes.

anmd yes those corals are low level stinging but i have found the slime they create to be irritating to my horses.

Only one of the corals pictured or described has any sting and was stated that the coral was going to be moved. The rest of the corals have no sting and will not harm the horses even if they did grab it. Mushrooms would fall into that no risk catergory IMO.

IME I have ever had an issue with adding fish then horses, or horses then fish. IME it doesn't matter so much the order as long as all is compatible. Adding one or the other first is not going to change anything IME.

I responded to your email. Did you get it?

Most of my experience is with reidi. I have also kept barbouri, and have worked with comes.

Well all don't fret, this is going to be an all out reef tank now. My boy squashed the horse Idea and I can't tell you how glad I am he did. Only because I would not be able to feed these guys twice a day let alone three times at that.

I like my reef tanks that can be fed every other day.

But again, thanks for the ideas.

certainly but i was trying to comment as to create a less problematic envirnment for the horses when you never had any. having fish can cause questions when things go wrong and youve never had horses. see what i mean? less complicated additions youll be able to deal with issues better. good luck
