phyto feast

I have a few soft corals and just picked up some phyto feast. How long should I keep my protein skimmer off during feeding. Also, Should I turn off my canister filter during feeding?

Thanks

What kind of soft corals are they exactly or possibly. Most soft corals like leathers, toadstools don't need to be fed phytoplankton. They probably can't even eat it at all. The only softies that would would be dendronephthya's and maybe nephthya's. Other things in your tank may benefit like copepods and other zooplankton and filter feeders like micro brittle stars however so you may still want to try some. Just remember to mix it very well and shake it up a lot because the size of the particles are usually to large to be eaten with dry products like phyto feast.

Oh, ya you should keep your skimmer off for a little bit, maybe 15-30 minutes. If your canister has carbon in it it would be good to turn it off too so the carbon doesn't get all clogged up.
