Phytoplankton

Hi all, got this bottle of stuff, (seachem reef phytoplankton) apparently its the building blocks of life in the tank. Following the dosing it's about 6ml twice a week.
So the questions are :

Is it worth doing?
Will it affect my tank?
Do things actually benefit from it?

I have used this (and their zooplankton) for two years now.
I can't say it makes a difference, but I can say the following:

-it has not harmed my DT in any way and has not increased nutrients at all.
-my clams, will "pump" several times when a "cloud" of phyto is placed just above with no flow
-my scolymias and brains extend their feeders fully, about 5 minutes after input.
-corals appear to be "puffed up" more, the day after feeding.

Some say feed, some say not, I don't know then answer, but what I do know is it is being consumed as nutrients would have built up in my DT.

Yes, I do refrigerate.

Just keep an eye on N and P to ensure it holds at your normal level whatever that might be.

I also feed zooplankton (a bigger size food) cyclops (again bigger) and targeted Mysis, ( for those meat eaters)


Each one once per week with one day in between.

I feed "fuel" on the days in between.

In all cases of feeding, I turn off all viturally all flow except one small 240gph wavemaker for 45 minutes.

Many reefers say feeding not necessary, I don't know, but I'll stick with what has been working.
