Pickling Lime question

Thanks again to Fliger for the pickling lime.:D

What are some of the ways you are using this in your tanks? I am looking for a few suggestions to find out what is going to work best for my setup.

Thanks for the link. Good info about how to set it all up but he didn't say how much pickling lime to use.

I use 2 cups in a 30 gallon reservoir and then drip it in to the tank to match evaporation. That takes care of my calcium and PH and I still have to add a little extra baking soda to keep alk up. I believe that 2tsp per gallon is a saturated solution. There is a ton of info about lime in the chemistry forum and the stickies at the top.

No prob, hope if works for you. Just remember this stuff can kill a tank so be careful with it. Tiff's method is great, lots of people just leave the powder in the rez, some people pour it off slowly to keep the residue offline from the tank. Whatever method you use, think it thru and you can't be too careful.

If you download the pod cast it shows exactly what to do its a podvideo also he uses vinigar to help utilize the most of the lime. Very informative. I will be using this method as soon as a run out of my kalk powder.

I will have to try again. I only got the sound for it. I will probably be using Tiff’s method. I am going to be setting up a 55 gallon top off. I can just mix the Pickling Lime in this and top off from it also. I just need some more info. .
